Metro Alert is primarily designed for use by emergency first responders; however, it also serves as a valuable reference resource for personnel across the country.

The application facilitates direct communication between emergency first responders and the receiving organization's communication center. Its GPS feature promptly provides the responder’s location to the center while it verifies aircraft availability and estimated time of arrival, thereby expediting response times. This streamlined process enables flight crews to be placed on standby to facilitate rapid patient transport at no cost to the patient. It is important to note that normal request procedures must still be followed to trigger helicopter dispatch.

Additionally, Metro Alert offers several functional and informational features relevant to medical and trauma emergencies, including:

• Sending EKG, wound images, and accident scene photographs
• Transmitting HIPAA-compliant social media photos
• Accessing educational resources and courses
• Providing an EMS pocket reference
• Contact information and other critical data

While all public safety providers have access to Metro Alert, full activation and functionality require registration. The registration process is free and can be completed in less than three minutes.

This application has been developed and tested in collaboration with emergency first responders, ensuring it meets the needs of public safety personnel effectively.
